Intellectual Property Studies 101 (Formerly Known as Film Studies)

Inspired by the Texas premiere of the crazy, college, dystopian film ROCK STEADY ROW (Flix Brewhouse - Wed, July 25 - 7:30pm), the Other Worlds staff has put together some predictions of the College Experience of the Future.

ROCK STEADY ROW centers around a young college freshman who, after his bike is stolen, lands on a college campus and is compelled to take action against the reigning fraternities and ultimately the dean. Writer Bomani Story will be in attendance and will do a Q&A after the screening.

Intellectual Property Studies 101

(Formerly Known as Film Studies)

Welcome to Intellectual Property Studies, where you will learn how to produce revenue creating properties for worldwide audiences. Laid out below is your first year of studies, where we emphasize a well-rounded curriculum to teach you what came before and what you will produce and market in the future!

First Semester:

Intro to Intellectual Property History (2008 - Present) - 3 Hours

In this entry level course, you will be able to examine the rich history of what we used to refer to as “Filmmaking” began. From the very first Intellectual Property talkie IRON MAN, all the way to the biggest crossover event in Media History, AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR. You will see how the craft grew and was molded into what we now make audiences go see every couple of months today.

Intro to Lighting and Stage Design - 3 Hours

Your first Production course will teach you how to make sure every property you work on is lit and staged in the same exact way. This uniformity is comforting to our audiences and ensures that they won’t be put off by anything new or unique.

Elective (Of Your Choice) - 3 Hours

Damn Liberal Arts education.

Intro to Intellectual Property Screenwriting - 3 Hours

Second Semester:

You need a science and trust us, this is an easy A.

Advance Intellectual Property History - The Star System - 3 Hours

Extra Lab Hours on T/Th: How We Made Audiences Think Ryan Reynolds is a Star.

Intro to Post Credits Stinger Editing - 3 Hours

Nothing is more crucial than the post/midway credits scenes that tell audiences what they will have to see in a few months. This course will teach you exactly how to insert them in and the exact beat to cut back to the credits roll.
