Scenario Description: An alien Xenomorph has breached the ship's defense and lurks within the many corridors. Over the last year and a half, Kelsey and her crew have hopefully overcome the odds and survived, but most likely the Xenomorph has hunted them down, one by one. Suggested Strategy:
In a SciFi film, every detail becomes part of the atmosphere creating this previously unknown place. Maybe its an alien world, like in James Horner’s score for Aliens, maybe its a new understanding of ourself like in Shane Carruth’s own score for Primer, but in a SciFi film, when the director is asking the audience to take a leap of faith with them into some mysterious territory, score must do much more than just be an audible backdrop for the dialogue.
Last week we lost one of the most influential film composers. The tragic death of James Horner was quite a shock to the not just the film community, but to all the people that have experienced his work over the years. Chances are that if you’ve seen a film in your lifetime that you’ve been touched by his work.
