Audiences and critics have both overwhelmingly praised the film, so I’ve been wondering since I left the theater…why didn’t It really work for me?
Yeah, twenty years on, the world is not really all that amazing. We have regressed years in technology, and people are so focused on this battle of good vs. evil thing that happened just recently it’s like living under a theocracy. I might call it the ‘Taliban of the good’ although see in our timeline, the Taliban never existed, because Captain Trips took out most of the world in 1985.
The scene was classic Horror: Two teens alone in a house late at night. Most of the lights were out and the teens were huddled on the floor with torment and carnage right in front of their eyes. The teens were actually me and my high school girlfriend, Caroline, and we were watching the Horror classic, CARRIE (1976).
Here in Austin, we are hitting a 100+ degree weather streak. This means that as we celebrate America this month we are also celebrating the wonderful invention of air conditioning. So go grab a snocone and prepare yourself for some Netflix and chill indoors with some amazing SciFi and Horror. From superheroes to time travel to creepy dinner parties, this month’s additions are not to miss.
