Other Worlds Austin SciFi Film Festival is excited to announce the Texas premiere of DOE, starring Timothy Davis, Tatyana Ali, Matthew St. Patrick, and Academy Award winner Mira Sorvino. DOE screens Wednesday, October 17 (7:30PM) at Flix Brewhouse as the last film in OWA’s 2018 Orbiter Screening Series. Director Justin Foia will be in attendance and will do a Q&A after the film.

In this thriller, a man (Timothy Davis) wakes up with no memory of his past but the ability to speak dozens of languages fluently. After starting a family with his new wife Rachel (Tatyana Ali), he uncovers a startling clue about his former self, and with the aid of his private detective brother-in-law (Mathew St. Patrick) he will race against time to discover his true identity and the clandestine villain (Mira Sorvino) responsible.

“Ironically, the story was something conceived of many years ago,” says Foia, “between my brother and his writer friend in a more enlightened time, in our more enlightened country; Obama’s America. But as we got closer to making this movie, we now all woke up, much like John Doe, in a new world – in a new America; in a very strange place where our fears and demons were taking center stage on television, dominating new cycles, threatening to spill into the daily reality like furies that had been banished in a mock ritual of cleansing.”

“Maybe starting over with no memories of past evils is where we are heading. Therefore, I knew DOE had to be told. Here. Now.”

DOE can be enjoyed as a thriller, as a character drama, and lastly as a cautionary tale of potential nightmares too uncanny to be ignored.

Justin Foia is a rising new film director and screenwriter. He studied at the University of North Texas with famed post-modern artists and fellow filmmakers Vernon Fisher and Ed Blackburn, concentrating on representational painting. Encouraged by his professors, Foia decided to apply the narrative approach he had reserved for the art field to the field of post-production and motion design.

A move to Seattle, where he extended his film talents to commercial direction, led to a partnership with film producer Mark Mathias Sayre, and Foia’s first directorial effort – the psychological thriller feature, POINT DEFIANCE.

Timothy Davis is best known as Chef Ryan on the critically acclaimed hit Showtime series, Billions. After appearing in Steven Soderberg's The Girlfriend Experience and an episode of Law and Order: Criminal Intent, he finally decided that it was time to forgo the New York theatre scene and move to Los Angeles, where he was cast in the film Tiger Hunter, and returned to the stage in the critically acclaimed long-running production of The Rainmaker at the Edgemar Theatre.

Tatyana Marisol Ali is an American actress and singer. She is known for her role as Ashley Banks on the NBC sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air from 1990 to 1996. She starred as Tyana Jones on the TV One original sitcom Love That Girl!, and had a recurring role as Roxanne on the CBS

soap opera The Young and the Restless from 2007 to 2013. Tatyana costarred in the 2017 TV film Wrapped Up in Christmas.

Mathew St. Patrick is an American actor best known for his portrayal of Keith Charles on the HBO drama television series Six Feet Under. Mathew was born and raised in Philadelphia, and was on the varsity track team of Olney High School, but graduated in 1986 from Scotland

School for Veterans' Children in Scotland, Pennsylvania, the last remaining school for children of military veterans in the United States.

Acclaimed actress Mira Sorvino won the Academy Award, a Golden Globe, Critics’ Choice Award, National Board of Review and New York Film Critics Circle for her performance in Woody Allen’s Mighty Aphrodite. She was a Golden Globe nominee for her performance in Christian Duguay’s mini-series Human Trafficking and was also nominated for the cult comedy classic Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion, as well for her portrayal of Marilyn Monroe in the HBO film Norma Jean and Marilyn (which also earned her an Emmy Award nomination).

She was also awarded Best Supporting Actress in Mothers and Daughters opposite Sharon Stone and Susan Sarandon by the Milan International Film Festival.

Sorvino stars in the Audience Networks series Condor. She recently starred in the BBC American series Intruders, as well as arcs on Falling Skies, Stalker, and two hilarious cameos on Netflix’s Lady Dynamite. She also hit big screens earlier this year opposite Josh Hartnett in 6 Below, as well as in Assaf Bernstein’s psychological thriller Behind the Glass. Other recently wrapped productions include Waterlily Jaguar, executive produced by Paul Thomas Anderson, and she can currently be seen in the steamy psychological thriller Indiscretion opposite Christopher Backus, Cary Elwes, and Kate McNamara.

Other film credits include the lead in the critically-acclaimed dramedy Union Square (directed by Nancy Savoca), Like Dandelion Dust opposite Barry Pepper (for which she won numerous Best Actress awards), Terry George’s Reservation Road opposite Joaquin Phoenix, Mark Ruffalo, and Jennifer Connelly, Robert Redford’s Quiz Show, Spike Lee’s Summer of Sam, The Triumph of Love (produced by Bernardo Bertolucci), Whit Stillman’s Barcelona, Antonie Fuqua’s Replacement Killers, Guillermo Del Toro’s Mimic, Ted Damme’s Beautiful Girls, the quirky dramedy Quitters (for which she garnered great reviews), and Rob Weiss’ Amongst Friends (which she also associate produced).

Interviews and screener available upon request.
