Presenting: The Tangle, a Texas Premiere

Austin, TX – Other Worlds Film Festival is thrilled to announce the Texas premiere of the lyrical SciFi film, THE TANGLE. This special screening takes place on Wednesday, September 18 (7:30pm) at Galaxy Highland 10 Theatre. Writer/Director/Star Christopher Soren Kelly and Actress/Producer Jessica Graham will be in attendance and will do a Q&A after the film.

THE TANGLE made its World Premiere at Sci-Fi-London and won Best Film at Roswell SciFi Film Fest.

“The Tangle is to the internet what the Hal 2000 is to the Abacus.”

** Tickets can be purchased exclusively through the Other Worlds website.

“THE TANGLE is the exact sort of film I was thinking about when I founded Other Worlds in 2014,” says Bears Rebecca Fonté, OW Founder and Artistic Director. “It’s a complicated mind-f--k, the sort of SciFi that posits a world completely different from ours based one technological difference, and yet the means of telling the story are so simple from a production standpoint.”

Fonté has been keeping a close eye on Kelly since she programmed his short CHASSEUR at Austin Film Festival in 2013. Kelly also played the lead in INFINITY CHAMBER, which had its US Premiere at Other Worlds in 2016 as SOMNIO and was one of the highest rated features by the audience that year.

In the near future, the Tangle an AI with airborne nanotech, connects the world.

The Tangle is benevolent; it has stopped crime, keeps us well and safe.  But to make sure it never turns rogue a government agency watches over them from within technology safe rooms, locations impermeable to the nanobots that make up the Tangle. When field agent Margot Foster is found dead in one of these rooms, the agency needs to investigate the first murder in years.

“...kind of like INCEPTION or MEMENTO…

but honestly, I cannot think of anything that I’ve seen that is like this.”

-- Kevin Scott, Echoes from the Void

“Intriguing… Ambitious… A wonderfully stylized cyberpunk investigation.” -- Anton Bitel, Projected Figures

“... there are certain scenes that genuinely made me gasp out loud.” – Film ERA

“A new kind of vision…. Captivating… Hypnotic… Immersive… A chess game of a film.” -- Kevin Scott, Echoes From the Void

“... this engaging little gem of a film had me hooked from the beginning.” -- Gregory Moss, Mossfilm

“This is a beautiful, complex and lyrical film, with a touch of brutal violence and a strange sort of love story…” -- Mark Cole, Rivets on the Poster

“If you’re a fan of intelligent filmmaking, if you’re a fan of great dialog, if you’re a fan of poetry, if you’re just a fan of good storytelling, The Tangle is a film for you...I can’t think of an indie film that I’ve enjoyed this much this year.” -- Echoes from the Void

“This offers a slippery perspective on our future as all at once utopian and dystopian, paradisiac and paranoid, in what is a wonderfully stylized cyberpunk investigation into the all-too-human ghosts haunting our machines. And oh what a tangled web it weaves.” – Projected Figures

If you’re someone who likes their sci-fi being more about the exploration of ideas and possibilities (or indeed good old-fashioned and smartly-written whodunits) – then Christopher Soren Kelly’s The Tangle comes highly recommended. -- mossfilm

“This is one of those films that could only exist as an independent, free from the constraints of a room full of unimaginative people. A movie with the intelligence and creativity to imagine a world reshaped by a new technology — and yet find lyrical beauty in the most prosaic of settings.” – Rivets on the Poster

Christopher Soren Kelly

“With hints of Lynch, the look of early Wachowski Bros. (during the "Bound" days!) and all with a pinch of Alex Proyas via DARK CITY and THE CROW, Kelly could very well be the next Fincher... Kelly has a rich and keen camera eye that matches and in some cases surpasses some of the all-time great visual filmmakers that we have come to know and love and it’s thrilling to watch.” - Starpulse

Christopher has directed three award-winning short films in the past few years, CHASSEUR, MONKEYS, and I’M RIGHT HERE. In addition to THE TANGLE, he is in development on another sci-fi feature called CROSSING THE FLOOD and the feature version of the festival-favorite short film, CHASSEUR. As an actor Christopher has appeared in INK, INFINITY CHAMBER, and THE

FRAME as well as dozens of other features and shorts. He also has a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and teaches meditation.
