Other Worlds Film Festival announces new branding and a new home as it enters its sixth season. Formerly Other Worlds Austin SciFi Film Festival, the new moniker reflects Other Worlds’ natural evolution as an international brand and its broad influence with smart, independent sci-fi and horror films.
Other Worlds Austin SciFi Film Festival has announced its final wave of programming for Austin’s first and only SciFi film festival (Dec 7-10) at Flix Brewhouse, as well as special event trivia show THE BIG QUIZ THING at OTHER WORLDS AUSTIN.
The slate includes the North American premieres of TUFTLAND and RESTORATION; the Texas premiere of Closing Night Film CURVATURE; and the special retro screening of the 1979 Disney classic THE BLACK HOLE, with Defender of the Universe Awardee director Gary Nelson.
Other Worlds Austin SciFi Film Festival has announced its first wave of programming for Austin’s first and only SciFi film festival (Dec 7-10) at Flix Brewhouse. The 2017 slate includes the Opening Night Film and Texas premiere of BEYOND SKYLINE, a concurrent sequel to the alien invasion thriller SKYLINE (2010). Writer/Director Liam O’Donnell will be in attendance and will do a Q&A after the screening.
As part of its ongoing mission to encourage work in Science Fiction, Other Worlds Austin held its second annual SciFi Screenplay Contest to reward creativity in its earliest stages and encourage writers to keep working in the genre. The contest is sponsored by No BullScript Consulting.
The contest garnered an impressive array of scripts from all over the country. The Grand Prize winner is the short KEYSTROKE by Tom Sanchez Prunier. Other Worlds Austin congratulates Mr. Sanchez Prunier on his compelling, entertaining, and well-written script.
