New Screenwriting Contest Category for those Under 18
|
|
As part of its ongoing mission to encourage work in Science Fiction and Horror, Other Worlds Film Festival is holding its eighth annual Screenwriting Contest to reward creativity in its earliest stages and encourage writers to keep working in the genre.
For the first time, our screenwriting contest is expanding to include an “Under-18” category. This is a special category for students just starting to learn their craft and explore genre, furthering Other Worlds’ mission to foster and promote creativity during every st(age) of development.
This year’s “Under-18” category is sponsored by Fade In screenwriting software. The winner in the “Under-18” category will walk away with a student license of Fade In screenwriting software to help them further refine their screenwriting as their craft progresses.
Fade In Professional Screenwriting Software is the most advanced software used by professionals writing for motion pictures, television, video games, the stage, radio, and more. Fade In is the new industry standard and we couldn’t be more pleased to welcome them as a sponsor of the “Under-18” contest this year.

"When a satellite falls from orbit and crashes into the suburban home of a dysfunctional family in Ohio, the father seizes the opportunity to fulfill his dream of becoming an astronaut by re-building it into his own rocket ship. While his wife and daughter believe he's experiencing a midlife crisis, surreal events begin to unfold around him, forcing him to reconsider how interconnected their lives truly are..."
**Austinites: the final screening of LINOLEUM takes place at the Zach Theatre TOMORROW, March 17th at 6:30pm. Tickets should still be available (The Zach's a pretty large venue!)**
