MANFISH

Meet the 2022 Screenwriting Contest Judges
JULIA MARCHESE


Julia Marchese is a filmmaker, actor, writer, film programmer, podcaster and cinephile. She has performed in several films and in 2016 released her first film, OUT OF PRINT, a documentary about the importance of revival cinema and 35mm to culture. She also adapted and directed Stephen King's short story "I Know What You Need" into a short film through his Dollar Baby program, which was shot on location at the University of Maine.

She co-hosts the podcasts Horror Movie Survival Guide and JodoWOWsky. You can follow her on her social media platforms @juliacmarchese and at juliamarchese.com.
ALEXIS GAMBIS

Alexis Gambis is a French-Venezuelan filmmaker and biologist. His films combine documentary and fiction, often embracing animal perspectives and experimenting with new forms of scientific storytelling. 

His second feature SON OF MONARCHS premiered at Sundance in 2021 and received the Sloan Feature Film Prize. Alexis also founded the Imagine Science Film Festival and launched the sister platform Labocine that provides a virtual ecosystem to experience science cinema online and to foster collaborations between scientists, artists and educators.

PATRICK HOGAN

Patrick Hogan was born and raised on the island of Guam and attended Northwestern University and USC, where his award-winning thesis film THE BUSINESS CARD had the distinction of being the first student film ever sold to an airline for in-flight entertainment. His films have played at festivals around the world, with his feature film POPE DREAMS airing on the Lifetime Network.

In addition, Patrick is a highly accomplished supervising sound editor with 8 Emmy nominations and 3 Golden Reel Awards. He is currently the supervising sound editor on CW’s ROSWELL, NEW MEXICO and the Netflix shows UMBRELLA ACADEMY and COBRA KAI.
