Internships

Join the Other Worlds team as an intern! All Internships are unpaid, but have great benefits! An internship with Other Worlds consists of a regular weekly work schedule and is designed to expand participants’ professional knowledge and experience.

All internship applicants are required to provide proof of their internship requirements for school. Prospective interns not completing an internship for a college or university credit will be considered ‘volunteers’ for tax and legal purposes and may refer to their time with OW as an Apprenticeship.

Description

As an Other Worlds intern, you will learn every aspect of how a film festival works by assisting in the planning, organizing and maintaining of all major OW projects and timelines within each department. Unlike some other arts organizations, where an intern may only see inside one department, working with OW will afford the opportunity to be a part of the entire festival experience. This prospect will help you to gain event planning experience and learn the logistics of producing an annual film festival, opening you up for job possibilities in a variety of areas.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assist the Director of Operations with project coordination, creating deadline and priorities checklists, calendars, assisting in the implementation of administrative daily tasks, and getting price quotes for different projects to be completed.

  • Assist with film screenings around Austin and completing out-of-office errands.

  • Assist the Marketing and Social Media Departments by helping with research, grassroots efforts, and internet marketing strategies.  This potentially includes working with social media, flyer design, event promotion, etc.
